FEU-NRMF Medicine Batch ’96: 30 Years

FEU-NRMF Medicine Batch ’96: 30 Years

Three decades later, the white uniforms may have a few more stories behind them, but the friendship remains just as strong. FEU-NRMF Medicine Batch ’96 (or JIO ‘96 as we fondly call our batch) celebrates its 30th year with a memorable evening, a sunset dinner cruise at the Manila Yacht Club, aboard the luxury boat Sun Glider, where golden skies, a cool sea breeze, amazing sunset, and the laughter of old friends create the perfect setting.

Dressed in our summer OOTDs, batchmates gather once again, not in hospital corridors or lecture halls, but under a painted sunset sky to reconnect over good food, drinks, and endless stories. What begins as a simple reunion quickly turns into something deeper, meaningful conversations, shared memories of sleepless duty nights, nerve-wracking exam weeks, ward rounds and toxic monitorings, and the small triumphs and struggles that shaped us into the physicians we are today. In every laugh and every story retold, we rediscover friendships that time, distance, and busy lives never truly erased.

For many of us, it feels as if the years quietly fold away for a moment. The faces may carry a few more lines, the responsibilities are certainly greater, but the same spirit of camaraderie that carried us through medical school is still very much alive.

Adding even more excitement to the festivities is the Pyrolympics competition, lighting up the night sky with bursts of color and brilliance. The dazzling fireworks become the perfect backdrop to the celebration with each spark and shimmer reflecting the vibrant spirit of Batch ’96. As the fireworks dance above Manila Bay, they seem to mirror the journeys of our batchmates: bright, resilient, and full of purpose.

Thirty years may have passed since those medical school days, but tonight proves that the bond remains timeless. Between sunset views, fireworks in the sky, and the clinking of glasses, this evening becomes more than just a reunion. It is a celebration of the lives we have built, the patients we have served, the families we have nurtured, and the friendships that have quietly endured through the years.

And this gathering is only the beginning. It marks the start of a year-long celebration for Batch ’96, a chance to reconnect even more deeply, to support one another, and to look forward to the many milestones still ahead.

Because while we celebrate the past with gratitude and nostalgia, we also look to the future with hope. As physicians, colleagues, and lifelong friends, Batch ’96 continues to move forward together, stronger, wiser, and still united by the journey that began three decades ago.

Here’s to 30 years of FEU-NRMF Medicine Batch ’96! Still sailing through life together, one memory, one laugh, and one toast at a time.
