Physician Licensure Examination (PLE) Support Group

The Physician Licensure Examination (PLE) marks a critical and transformative milestone in every medical student’s journey to becoming a licensed physician. Recognizing the significant challenges and pressures that students face during this pivotal period, the Dean’s Office has established the PLE Support Group—a comprehensive support system dedicated to guiding and uplifting aspiring physicians as they prepare for their board exams.

The PLE Support Group is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment that empowers students to approach the PLE with confidence, resilience, and an optimal level of preparation. Our goal is to prioritize both the academic and emotional well-being of our students throughout this journey.

We strongly encourage students to engage fully in the PLE Support Group’s activities. Participation will enhance their academic preparation and nurture a sense of camaraderie with fellow students and alumni, building a robust support network during this crucial phase of their careers.

Our Approach and Activities

We provide extensive review sessions led by experienced faculty, designed to reinforce core concepts and address challenging topics. Students also gain access to the latest review materials, ensuring they have the most current and relevant information for their studies.

Mock board examinations are an essential part of our support strategy, simulating the actual PLE experience to help students manage time effectively, practice under real testing conditions, and alleviate exam-day anxiety.

The PLE Support Group acknowledges that mental well-being is integral to academic success. Our faculty members are approachable and available for discussions, offering both emotional and academic guidance. With firsthand experience in board exams, they provide relatable advice that supports students in both academic and personal aspects of preparation.

We also prepare wellness kits for students, distributed days before the exam. Additionally, a Mass is offered to bless the examinees, and faculty members participate in the traditional “pencil sharpening” ceremony—an expression of support and encouragement in the days leading up to the exam.

On the last day of the PLE, faculty and students gather at various testing sites to greet examinees and their families, showing our commitment to supporting them from the beginning of their journey until they achieve their goals.

Through the PLE Support Group, we aim to equip our future physicians not only with the tools for exam success but also with the confidence and resilience that will serve them throughout their medical careers. We look forward to seeing our students thrive as they embark on this journey, knowing they have a strong network of support every step of the way.
