Nueva Ecija Chapter
In August 7, 2019, the FEU-NRMF MEDICAL ALUMNI SOCIETY, INC. 2018-2022 officers under the leadership of then President Dr. Lylah D. Reyes and Immediate Past President Dr. Rommel Z. Dueñas (RZD) conducted its first Scientific symposium in Nueva Ecija in cooperation with Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center. It was made possible thru the approval of the Medical Center Chief Dr. Huberto F. Lapuz, an alumni of FEU batch 1983. It was entitled “Meeting of the Minds “as topics from different fields of medicine were presented. Roster of speakers included: Dr. Efren R. Vicaldu, Dr. May Emeline B. Montellano. Dr. Jessica Ona Cruz and Dr. Joel L. Javate. Majority of the attendees were alumni, hence after the symposium, the alumni were invited for a get together party held at The Podium Event place in Cabanatuan City.
The post symposium party was attended by around 50 Novo Ecijano alumni. The alumni were thrilled to reconnect with their teachers, batchmates, old friends and meet the other alumni. The party was made lively by emcees Dr. Annabel Alenzuela and Dr. Noel Maducdoc. Here are some of the highlights during the event:
- Dr. Huberto Lapuz, as The Medical Center Chief of DR. PJGMRMC welcomed everyone. Dr. Lapuz from batch ’82 was recognized as an outstanding alumni. He served as the 13th Medical Center Chief of Dr. PJGMRMC which saw tremendous progress during his 20 year term. He also held top position as President of many national organizations like: Philippine Hospital Association, Asso. of Hospital Administrators and Phil. College of Hospital Association.
- Everybody was delighted to see their professor Dr. dela Rosa. It was noted that ALL were students of Dr. dela Rosa, except for Dr. Teodora Matias
- Dr. Teodora Matias who was the oldest alumni present, from batch 1972
- The group was divided into two: Morayta and Fairview, everyone had a good laugh as the Morayta of course are the senior ones.
- There was sharing of happy memories in Morayta, the couple Drs. Reynaldo and Syvia Yang told their love story in Pinky Pop. With them were their children who are also alumni of FEU.
- Talents were showcased, there were singing and dancing.
It was indeed an afternoon of reminiscing and reconnecting showered with love and laughter. Everyone was craving for more gatherings like this. Seemed no one wants to leave. It was then that the creation of the Nueva Ecija Chapter was formally announced by Dr. Lyla Reyes. This is actually the brainchild of immediate past president Dr. RZD who spearheaded the conduct of the post grad course at Dr. PJGMRMC. It was an idea welcomed by all. Another milestone for FEU MAS, having the 1st ELECTED CHAPTER IN REGION 3.

The creation of the Alumni NE Chapter paved the way for gathering the alumni practicing in Nueva Ecija. The main goal then was to foster a lasting connection with our alma mater and build a bridge between college life and career life, for the fresher graduates to be made proactive to face the current challenges of competitive professional world guided by the more senior alumni.
For better communication, a viber group was created, currently with 104 participants. This serves as the avenue for sources of continuing medical education for members, for keeping up with all the accomplishments and activities of members and even social greetings.
The following year, the Chapter was recognized during the annual alumni homecoming in January, held at EDSA Shangri La Hotel. Unfortunately, pandemic came, hence activities were limited to social media. The members remained in active communication thru Viber.
The chapter plans to enhance membership, continue with provision of avenues for CME’s and conduct and support research activities. The chapter is committed to support the plans and activities of the FEU MAS.
