FEU NRMF Employees Honored at “Unleashing a Hero in You” Appreciation Day
The dedication and hard work of the entire FEU NRMF family were celebrated last May 27, 2025 at a special Appreciation Day held in their honor, guided by the inspiring theme, “Unleashing a Hero in You”. The event, designed to recognize the invaluable contributions of every employee, featured an empowering financial literacy talk and generous raffle prizes, all made possible by the FEU NRMF MAS team and support of industry partners.
The day commenced with heartfelt opening remarks from Dr. Elizabeth Ahyong-Reyes, President of the Medical Alumni Society. Dr. Ahyong-Reyes lauded the FEU NRMF employees for their unwavering commitment and resilience, emphasizing that each individual embodies a unique form of heroism in their daily efforts to uphold the institution’s mission.
A highlight of the Appreciation Day was an insightful financial literacy talk presented by the esteemed Sun Life Platinum Transcend team, led by Ms. Maria Buena David, alongside Mr. Riyadh Dain David and Ms. Julie Ann Benamera. The session was designed to equip employees with practical financial knowledge, focusing on life and health insurance as essential tools for long-term financial security. It addressed common misconceptions about life insurance, clarifying its true purpose and benefits through real- life examples. Key topics such as term vs. whole life policies, adequate coverage, and beneficiary designation were discussed in detail.
Beyond insurance, the team also tackled the basics of budgeting as the foundation of any sound financial plan. Participants were guided on how to make simple yet impactful changes to manage their income better and allocate funds for future goals.
An important portion of the talk also highlighted the difference between pre-need plans and the financial stability of Sun Life as a long-standing, regulated, and reputable life insurance company. This comparison addressed concerns some employees had about previous negative experiences with pre-need providers, reinforcing the importance of due diligence and trust when choosing a financial partner.
The team emphasized how one decision to get properly covered through insurance can protect not just an individual, but an entire family—ensuring that education, income continuity, or retirement goals are not derailed by unexpected life events.
Finally, the session provided actionable strategies for choosing the right insurance based on individual needs, understanding the claims process, and maximizing value. It tied in how life and health insurance fit into broader financial planning, including retirement preparation and estate planning.
The engaging and relatable discussion left participants with not just knowledge, but the confidence to make informed financial decisions that can positively shape their future and that of their loved ones. The celebratory atmosphere was further enhanced by an exciting raffle draw, offering a variety of prizes. The raffle, a token of gratitude, brought smiles and excitement to many deserving employees.
The success of the FEU NRMF Employees Appreciation Day was significantly bolstered by the generous support of various industry partners, who demonstrated their commitment to the welfare of the FEU NRMF community. Their contributions underscored the collaborative spirit and shared appreciation for the dedicated staff.
The event served as a powerful reminder of the collective strength and heroic spirit within the FEU NRMF organization. It was a day to acknowledge, appreciate, and empower the individuals who consistently go above and beyond, truly “Unleashing a Hero in You” each and every day.
